Broadband refers to the high
capacity networks used to carry large amounts of digital data at a high
throughput. Networks may be fiber optics, coaxial cable, microwave
point-to-point, point to multipoint, satellite, or twisted pair copper
such as Category 6 Ethernet cable. Newer office and hotel buildings are
often constructed as 'smart buildings' with integral wired and wireless
networks. The wireless component is usually employed as the final link
from a wireless device to a wired broadband network. The transition of broadcast radio and television to digital transmission has stimulated demand for terrestrial and satellite broadband transmission. This trend is expected to continue. MCG has the capacity for planning and implementation of broadband networks.
